Talking again about Needlepaints.

All the fans of Marilyn Leavitt Imblum – the very famous founder and designer of the immortal brands “Lavender & Lace”, “Told in a Garden” and “Butternut Road” – have certainly met, in her patterns, the Needlepaints threads: a limited range of floss created by Marilyn herself and dyed in Japan. They were finely variegated threads, organized in color shades with numbes from  light to dark:

  • 6 shades of Lavender/Blue (2001-2006)
  • 5 shades of Orchid (2007-2011)
  • 6 shades of Robin’s Egg Blue (2101-2106)

Sadly, Marilyn died in 2012, but already when she was still alive and designed, she stated she had “trouble keeping these manufactured”.

That’s why she thought of working together with Rainbow Gallery – one of the best known US floss manufacturers – to find reasonable conversions for thes. So, this was her very first conversion:

  • Needlepaints 2001 similar to Splendor S931
  • Needlepaints 2002 similar to Splendor S932
  • Needlepaints 2003 similar to Splendor S1029
  • Needlepaints 2004 similar to Splendor S1030
  • Needlepaints 2005 similar to Splendor S1076

This first conversion was later integrated with DMC colors, too, as follows:

  • 2001 -> 3743 ->Splendor S931
  • 2002 -> 160
  • 2003 -> 161 -> Splendor S1029
  • 2004 -> 158
  • 2005 -> 823 *approximate
  • 2006 -> 939 *approximate
  • 2007 -> Splendor S811
  • 2008 -> 3836
  • 2009 -> 3835
  • 2010 -> 3834
  • 2011 -> 154
  • 2101 -> 3813
  • 2102 -> 503
  • 2103 -> 502
  • 2104 -> 501
  • 2105 -> blend 501 and 500
  • 2106 -> 500

So, if you find one of these threads in the color key of one (of more!) pattern of yours, here’s a little conversion table you can always keep on hand.
